Ms. Danae Younger, Barrister, Griffith Chambers
Danae Younger is a Barrister and Mediator at the private bar in Queensland. She was admitted as a legal practitioner in 2005 and worked in private practice and in government (at the Crime and Corruption/Misconduct Commission and the Office of the Adult Guardian). Danae practices in a range of areas, including criminal and disciplinary/regulatory law, family law and domestic violence, and is an experienced advocate both in prosecution and defence matters. She is a co-author of annotations to Carters’ Criminal Law of Queensland for Lexisnexis, has been on the Criminal Law Committee for the Australian Bar Association since 2018.


Mr. Anand Shah, Barrister, Brisbane Chambers
Anand Shah joined the Queensland Bar over 20 years ago after practising as a solicitor for eleven years. Anand’s practice areas include commercial litigation, administrative law, wills & estates, defamation, and human rights. Anand has appeared as counsel in the High Court, the Queensland Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, as trial counsel in all State Courts, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and many Tribunals (including QCAT). Anand has acted as a mediator in a variety of disputes including wills & estates, contract, professional negligence, insolvency and personal injuries. Anand has been elected by the Queensland Bar, on many occasions, to serve on its Bar Council (the Bar's peak executive body). Anand is a Past President of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association (AALA) (Qld Branch). AALA promotes and encourages cultural diversity within the legal profession. Anand is a past chair of QUT’s Learning Potential Fund. That fund supports socio-economically disadvantaged students across all QUT faculties. Anand sits on the Qld Chapter Committee of the Australian Institute of Administrative Law. Anand has co-authored Personal Injuries Litigation Queensland (LexisNexis) for over 25 years. Anand tries to enjoy many things outside of the law : road trips with his wife, music, art, reading (particularly fiction and cookbooks), picnicking, catching up with friends, watching classic cinema and just chilling.


Ms Madelaine Luchich, Barrister,
Prior to being called to the Bar in August 2005, Madelaine Luchich spent 14 years as a solicitor practising almost exclusively in commercial litigation and insolvency. From 2001 to 2005 she was a Partner with a national legal firm practising in the Insolvency and Commercial Litigation division of that firm. On commencing practice at the bar Madelaine continued her commercial litigation and insolvency practice advising on and appearing in a wide range of matters and proceedings concerning banking, financial services, property, personal and corporate insolvency, director and shareholder disputes and professional negligence claims. She regularly appeared on behalf of Banks, financiers, and insolvency practitioners. She also appeared on behalf of corporations and businesses in a variety of commercial disputes, including appearances in mediations. She also acted as mediator in commercial disputes. Madelaine has appeared in the High Court (as Junior Counsel), Queensland Court of Appeal, the State Courts of Queensland and the Federal Court and Full Federal Court of Australia. Since January 2017 Madelaine practices exclusively as a mediator in a wide range of commercial disputes.


Mr. Gavin Rebetzke BA LLB, Barrister-at-law,
Originally from Townsville, Gavin studied at James Cook University and the University of Queensland (graduating with degrees in Arts and Law from UQ) before undertaking Articles of Clerkship at Roberts & Kane Solicitors in Brisbane, later becoming a partner of that firm. His career as a solicitor included acting for the Queensland Nurses’ Union in a number of significant matters including the Bundaberg Hospital Commissions of Inquiry. He was called to the bar in 2007 and maintains a broad practice including administrative law, appeals, commercial, coronial inquests, defamation, employment, migration, professional discipline, and superannuation matters. He has appeared alone, against silk, in VCAT, the Fair Work Commission, the Court of Appeal, the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia, and the High Court of Australia. He is the holder of a statutory appointment as a Deputy Public Interest Monitor under the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act and the Crime and Corruption Act. Outside of the law, Gavin, is a keen photographer, gardener and clarinettist, holding the position of principal clarinet in the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra.
