35-year crisis counsel veteran, Craig Badings, will guide you through the balancing act between legal counsel and communication counsel. Craig will share insights from both sides including:

 

  • Examine the critical role time and perception play on reputation damage and the uneasy balancing act between what lawyers are prepared to say vs what communications counsel want to say
  • Understanding “the apology” in a crisis
  • Getting the balance right for the client’s best interests by considering not only legal expectations and precedence but that all important missing piece - stakeholder expectations

Ms. Katie Innes, Director, Bradley Allen Love Lawyers
Katie Innes is an experienced corporate lawyer who regularly advises a range of private companies and individuals, insolvency practitioners, industry peak bodies, co-operatives, associations and local governments on a broad range of commercial issues. Katie is a New South Wales Law Society Accredited Specialist in Business Law. Katie works closely with clients on the establishment and commercialisations of business ventures including the associated corporate governance, business structuring and ownership, succession planning, intellectual property considerations and capital raising. Katie's recent focus has been: assisting clients to find the most suitable business structure for their new and existing businesses to increase tax effectiveness and to create a workable succession plan; assisting clients with capital raising to fund business ventures including the offer of shares, debentures, units and convertible notes; and assisting private companies with major business acquisitions and disposals including the structuring, documentation and completion of those transactions. Katie's analytical and problem solving skills enable her to provide practical advice to her clients to achieve commercial resolutions in the best interests of her clients.

Craig has over 30 years’ experience counselling major corporations and senior executives on issues and crisis management, reputation protection and recovery, media relations and profile management as well as thought leadership in the healthcare, financial and professional services, biotech, medical devices, education, property, construction, FMCG, telecoms, manufacturing, not for profit, IT and government sectors. He has worked with numerous legal firms and in-house legal counsel across a range of crises. He recently contributed to Dr Tony Jaques’ latest crisis communication book: Crisis Counsel: Navigating Legal and Communication Conflict.
