Ms. Philippa Honey, Barrister, Francis Burt Chambers
Philippa Honey specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration. Since being admitted to practice in 2010, she has acquired particular expertise in contract law, competition and consumer law, corporations law and banking and finance. She has represented clients in all Courts, mainly in the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the District Court of Western Australia. Philippa has worked with a wide range of clients – including banks, major and mid-tier mining companies, construction companies and private individuals. Prior to coming to the Independent Bar, Philippa was a Senior Associate in Lavan’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team.


Ms. Kate Gould, Senior Associate, King & Wood Mallesons
Kate Gould is a real estate specialist with over 10 years’ experience. She has particular experience with major property transactions and leasing work. Kate’s work includes drafting and negotiating leases and agreements for lease for large commercial, retail and industrial premises. Her work also includes undertaking due diligence for major property acquisitions, drafting sale of land contracts, development agreements and other legal documents.


Ms. Jennifer Tropiano, Senior Associate, Lavan
Jennifer Tropiano is a special counsel in Lavan’s Property & Leasing team. Jennifer specialises in property law with a focus on successful delivery of projects. Jennifer has worked with local, national and international clients on transactions across Australia. Her approach is commercial and client focused. She frequently manages high value acquisitions incorporating large scale due diligence. Jennifer also manages complex commercial leasing matters and has experience acting on both sides of retail, industrial and commercial leasing.


Mr. Hector West, Partner, Hall & Willcox
Hector is a partner in the Hall & Wilcox Commercial Dispute Resolution team and is the office partner in charge of the Hall & Wilcox office in Perth. He has specialised in commercial dispute resolution, insolvency and bankruptcy for more than 20 years. He has extensive experience in commercial dispute resolution matters and his clients include large corporates, high net worth individuals, financial institutions, accounting firms and government bodies. More specifically, his experience includes acting in disputes in relation to the Australian Consumer Law, financial services law, corporations, partnership law, equity, collection of overdue Federal tax debts and regulatory investigations. He is also experienced in insolvency and bankruptcy matters, including acting and advising insolvency practitioners, directors, financial institutions in various claims and actions arising under security agreements, the Corporations Act or Bankruptcy Act.


Mr. Shannon Davies, Principal, Stork Davies;
Shannon is Principal at Stork Davies Legal Advisors, practising predominantly in commercial real estate transactions. He was previously the property law course director for the Piddington Society’s practical legal training program and an instructor on the property law component of the Leo Cussen articles training program, and a current member of the Property Council of Australia’s Retail and Hotels Committee (having previously served as Deputy Chair of the Retail Management Committee). Shannon has been ranked as a recommended lawyer in the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 Doyle's Guide listings of leading Western Australian property and real estate lawyers, and in the 2023 Doyle's listing of leading WA leasing lawyers. He has also achieved recognition in the 2023 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia for Leasing Law, and in the 2024 edition of Best Lawyers for both Leasing Law and Real Property Law. Previously, Shannon was a Business News 40under40 Winner in the professional services category, and the 2016 winner of the Property Council’s WA Future Leaders Award in the advisory and transactions category.


Mr. Derreck Goh, Executive Counsel, Herbert Smith Freehills
Derreck is an experienced commercial disputes lawyer. He has a broad practice, with a focus on corporate insolvency, government issues and administrative law, and media and defamation. His experience includes conducting and resolving disputes in the state supreme courts and the Federal court, including reaching resolutions by negotiation and mediation. These disputes have ranged from large scale trials involving voluminous evidence, to smaller disputes confined to novel legal issues. He is accustomed to working in a discreet manner in sensitive situations.
