Shane Nelson, Deputy Commissioner of Titles, Commissioner of Titles Office, Landgate
Shane was admitted to practice Law in the ACT in June 2000. His first role as a lawyer was with the Solicitor for the Northern Territory, then as an in-house lawyer with the Department of Lands, NT Government. In February 2008 Shane commenced as the Deputy Commissioner of Titles at Landgate, WA Government. For the past 15 years Shane has been worked at the Office of the Commissioner of Titles, making decisions and providing Legal advice to Landgate and the WA Government on some of the finer points of real property law in Western Australia.


Mark Palermo, Partner, Squire Patton Boggs
Mark Palermo has been recognised and recommended in Best Lawyers in Australia and Doyle’s Guide for his real property, and hospitality and tourism work. Mark’s practice includes commercial property law, hospitality and liquor licensing, and project finance. In Western Australia, Mark has represented clients on the acquisition and disposal of hotels (both accommodation hotels and tavern hotels) and liquor stores, and has experience in new liquor licensing matters. Mark also has broad experience in real estate development, including private and civic site redevelopments and joint venture contracting. He has represented various clients on office space leasing within some of the most iconic towers across Perth’s skyline. He also acts for various borrower clients on project and corporate finance matters. Mark spent a year in Brisbane, where he assisted with the drafting, preparation and management of leases for a new major Queensland shopping centre. Mark was the President of the University of Western Australia Graduate Management Association Inc. (having previously held the roles of Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) from 2014 to 2016, and from 2010 to 2012 was a member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) (UDIA) Outlook@UDIA committee. Mark was a presenter of the commercial property section of the UDIA Professional Development Program from 2009 to 2017. In September 2012, Mark was a finalist in the UDIA Young Development Professional Scholarship.


Jolene Ashworth, Legal Practitioner Director, Philipoff Legal
Jolene Ashworth is the Principal Solicitor of Philipoff Legal. Established in January 2015, Philipoff Legal is the brain child of Vicki Philipoff of Vicki Philipoff Settlements to enhance the client service capabilities of Vicki Philipoff Settlements by providing their clients with accessible legal services. Graduating from the University of Western Australian in 2005, Jolene was admitted in February 2007 to the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Jolene has practice predominately in generalist firms since her admission in 2007 but have been involved in predominately Property, Commercial and Estate Planning work and has garnered experience in Contract, Land, Trusts, Superannuation, Leases, Wills, Administration of Deceased Estates, Sale of Real Estate and Settlements, Settlement of Real Estate and Business, Retail Centre and Commercial Leasing. In addition to English, Jolene speaks Mandarin and is also fluent in Hokkien.


Dirk Feinauer, Director, Feinauer Commercial Lawyers
Dirk Feinauer heads up Feinauer Commercial Lawyers, a law corporation based in Perth, Western Australia and is one of the most experienced German speaking lawyers practicing in Australia. Dirk graduated from the Australian National University, Canberra with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws in 1989 and 1991 respectively. He is admitted to law practice in the Federal Court and High Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of Western Australia and New South Wales. Dirk regularly speaks on a range of topics in Australia and across the world. He has written various articles and other publications.
