Lindsey Alford, Barrister, Probity Auditor and AdvisorLindsey was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Queensland on 28 April 2003. Lindsey's practice has focused on matters relating to land, property, and commerce: government tendering, ethics, planning and environment, building disputes, contractors security of payments, contract law (purchase, construction, commercial and retail leases) land title and valuation, corporations law, and body corporates. In the appellate jurisdictions Lindsey has appeared before the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court, Supreme Court, District Court, and the Queensland Commercial and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). Lindsey's successful appearance before the Court of Appeal in the matter of RJ Neller Building Pty Ltd v Ainsworth [2008] QCA 397 was reported in The Queensland Reports [2009] 1 QDR 390. Lindsey also practices as a Probity Auditor and Advisor. In 2007 Lindsey established separately to his legal practice, a consultancy, which is a panel member to the Standing Offer Arrangement, for the provision of Probity Advisors and Auditors for the Whole of Government in Queensland. Lindsey has successfully undertaken over 250 probity projects for a range of state government departments, local government, government owned corporations, statutory bodies, and private sector companies. Lindsey is considered an authority on probity governance in government procurement and tendering, having been published in the Australian Law Journal, October 2011, (2011) 85 ALJ 678: as co-author of “Tendering for government business: process contracts, good faith, fair dealing and probity”. This article is cited in N. Seddon, Government Contracts Federal, State Local, 5th edition, Federation Press, 2013, [7.1], p. 334.
Matthew Butchard, Senior Associate, Hamilton Locke
Matthew is a Senior Associate specialising in property and real estate law with a focus on commercial leasing and capital transactions involving commercial real estate assets. Throughout his career to-date, Matthew has assisted some of the world’s foremost real estate developers, fund managers and listed real estate funds. Matthew has also gained valuable in-house experience which allows him to understand and anticipate his clients’ internal needs and processes. Matthew’s expertise encompasses all facets of property law including retail, commercial, industrial and telecommunications leasing; capital transactions involving prominent real estate assets; residential, strata and commercial developments; and the use and development of land held on trust and administered by government entities. Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Matthew worked in the Real Estate team at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, as well as an in-house solicitor for the Brisbane City Council.

Emile McPhee is a Partner at Hamilton Locke with extensive experience advising clients across Australia in the property and finance sectors. He is known for his outcomes-focused approach and his strong commitment to community partnerships and access to justice. Emile has developed particular expertise in social and affordable housing, specialist disability accommodation, and retirement living, acting on developments and operations of varying scale. He regularly advises banks, private lenders, developers, financiers, borrowers and guarantors on property financing matters, including off-the-plan developments, project financing and large loan portfolios exceeding $1 billion. Emile is recognised as an industry leader in community housing financing and has played a key role in the development of the Queensland master funding agreement, as well as advising community housing providers on State, Federal and private funding arrangements. His broader experience includes retail and commercial leasing, acquisitions and disposals, fund-through arrangements, property structuring, enforcement matters and PPSA security arrangements.
