Garen specialises in trade registration work and has over 25 years’ experience in the area. He has been involved in all aspects of trade mark registration work in Australia and overseas. In particular, Garen is experienced in filing and prosecuting trade mark applications including preparing evidence; conducting trade mark opposition and removal for non-use proceedings including preparing evidence and appearing at Hearings; and providing strategic advice to clients. He has acted and continues to act for local and multinational clients. Garen’s past experience includes working for more than a decade at Allens where he was a senior member of the trade marks team.

Justine Beaumont SC of Nigel Bowen Chambers is a commercial silk with particular expertise in all areas of intellectual property and competition and consumer law. She has appeared in many significant IP cases, including in the trade mark field, being appointed by the High Court to appear as amica curiae in Self Care v Allergan [2023] HCA 8.  Justine regularly appears in trade mark oppositions both in the Trade Marks Office and in the Federal Court. Justine’s skills have been recognised in all the major legal directories (Doyles Guide, Chambers Global, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers) in various categories: Intellectual Property, Technology, Media & Telecommunications Law and Competition Law.
