In an age of information overload - and more recently with Gen AI, hallucinations masquerading as information overload - there is a danger in losing sight of the basic things which make us informed and valuable lawyers.

David Ash, Barrister, Frederick Jordan ChambersDavid Ash is a member of the NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal. Admitted as a barrister in NSW in 1998, David for over 20 years advised and appeared in state and federal Courts and statutory tribunals including courts of appeal and the High Court of Australia. He was a member of the NSW Bar Council for a number of years and was also a member of its professional conduct committee. He is a consulting editor for the Federal Court Reports. He is the author of Three Sydney Judges, a history of three Sydney appointments to the High Court. He is currently preparing a history of the corporation for publication. Janine Lapworth, Independent Legal Consultant
Janine Lapworth is an independent legal consultant with extensive experience in corporate, commercial, intellectual property, and entertainment law. She has worked on litigious and non-litigous matters at national and international law firms, as well as in senior in-house legal positions at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and ESPN Star Sports (Singapore). Janine advises a diverse range of clients, including international studios, industry groups, tech start-ups, and creative professionals. She regularly engages with artificial intelligence issues in the law and in the creative industries, through her own practice, her advisory work, and her speaking engagements.
