Presenters
Ian Raspin, Managing Director, BNR PartnersIan is the Managing Director of BNR Partners and is recognised both nationally and internationally on Australian estate taxation matters. He is a current sitting member of CPA Australia Taxation Centre of Excellence, sits on the Planning Advisory Committee for the College of Law, and immediate past Chair of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Australia Limited. Ian is a fellow of both CPA Australia and of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He is also a Certified Tax Advisor of the Taxation Institute of Australia, a registered Practitioner of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Thomas King, Associate, Smailes Krawitz
Tom is a private clients lawyer, with expertise in tax, trusts, estates and commercial law. He provides technical tax, trusts and estates advice to high net worth individuals, family groups and corporate entities. Tom acts for taxpayers at every stage of review and at audit. He has acted in tax, trusts and superannuation disputes in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Known as a problem solver at heart, Tom's clients benefit from his knack for finding the way forward through legal frameworks. Tom is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Professional Economics) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Western Australia, where he tutors in taxation law.

Loraine is an experienced commercial litigator and has extensive experience in both estate planning, estate administration, and estate disputes. In addition to estate work, Lorraine advises on contract, property, and partnership disputes, and has defended prosecutions and disciplinary proceedings in relation to health and safety breaches, medical, and planning matters. Lorraine practiced in insurance litigation for many years. Lorraine regularly appears in the Supreme and District Courts and the State Administrative Tribunal. Prior to joining the Hale Legal dispute resolution team in 2022, Lorraine practiced in the UK at DLA Piper, Sydney at Henry Davis York and Perth at Minter Ellison and Lavan.
