Tanya Burns, Practice Manager, Nicholas O'Donohue & Co.
Tanya has over 25 years’ experience in legal business management and has worked in law firms since 1977. Tanya takes a holistic approach to management with a keen focus on achieving best outcomes for our people and our clients. She completed her Masters of Administration (Distinction) at RMIT in 2014. Tanya is a member of ALPMA (Australasian Legal Practice Management Association) and sits on the Victorian Branch Committee (Treasurer) and the Governance Committee. She is a co-convener of the Small Firms Management Group and enjoys contributing to the peak organisation for Legal Practice Management. Tanya is a keen traveller (pre-Covid) and enjoys spending time with good friends and her dog. She also loves watching her AFL team win (and lose) at the MCG.

Rebecca Pyers, Personal Assistant, Heinz Law
Bec is a personal assistant to the managing director at Heinz Law, a large regional practice based in Ballarat. Starting her career as a junior admin in a metropolitan firm in Melbourne, Bec learned many of the essential skills required to make the flow of work from her desk run smoothly. After being promoted to a support role in the Commercial department in her former workplace, and continuing in this area of practice at her current employer, Bec has been working in administration support in the law industry for just on 20 years. Between supporting two directors, a senior associate and a trainee in her role in Melbourne before switching to sole support in her current role, she has been able to draw on her years of experience to help both colleagues and professional staff. Recognising that being able to format, use shortcuts and make the most of the automations available for use in Word is a skill not necessarily “taught” anymore, she is always keen to help expand the knowledge network of assistants to improve their job satisfaction and skillset.
