Alice Molan is a financial services regulatory specialist. Alice is a Partner in Herbert Smith Freehills’ leading Australian financial services regulatory practice. She advises local and international clients in the banking, non-bank lending, payments and fintech sectors understand the application of regulatory obligations to their business and respond accordingly. Alice specialises in licensing requirements, prudential obligations, anti-money laundering and financial crime compliance, designing ongoing internal control frameworks and responding to regulatory reform. Alice spent a number of years in Hong Kong advising international financial institutions in connection with licensing and prudential matters, banking and securities regulations, virtual asset service provider reforms, anti-money laundering controls and ongoing regulatory obligations.

Marcelo de Farias, Acting Head of Legal, Auto & General Insurance
Marcelo de Farias has more than 25 years of experience as lawyer across two jurisdictions. He holds a degree in Law in Brazil and a Master of Laws from Bond University. Marcelo is the acting Head of Legal at the Auto & General Group, which provides general insurance products, including the Budget Direct brand. Marcelo has been advising Auto & General on a wide variety of matters since 2019, such as large technology contracts and financial services compliance. He has previously worked for many years in law firms in Brazil and Australia, including HopgoodGanim Lawyers and Corrs, Chambers & Westgarth. Marcelo has significant experience in advising businesses on Intellectual Property, complex IT projects and supply agreements.


Andrea Beatty, Partner, Piper Alderman
Andrea specializes in financial services, banking, and corporate law, offering expertise in regulatory matters, corporate governance, compliance, and risk management. She helps clients navigate the evolving regulatory landscape to meet customer, shareholder, and regulatory expectations. Andrea designs and conducts financial services training for providers, senior executives, legal and compliance officers, consumer advocates, and lawyers. Her services include drafting documents, conducting systems audits, and managing online application processes.
