Sarah has also worked and volunteered for over three years' in providing access to justice for victims of gender based violence. Sarah currently volunteers as a Family Law Solicitor for Marrickville Legal Centre. Senior Judicial Registrar Alison Osmand, Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia
Alison commenced her legal career at the Legal Aid Office in the ACT in 1991 and then moved into private practice in 1998. As a practitioner, she conducted many of her own Interim Hearings and represented a wide range of litigants including not only parents but also grandparents, extended family members and the Public Trustee and Guardian as Case Guardian. Alison joined the Court in October 2022, initially as a Sessional Judicial Registrar in the Court’s Dispute Resolution space. She became a Senior Judicial Registrar in November 2023, attached to the Sydney Registry.
Senior Judicial Registrar Frances Neilson, Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia
Prior to coming to the Court in January 2022, SJR Frances Neilson spent the bulk of her 25 year career working at NSW Legal Aid, specialising in ICL representation as well as managing the Parramatta Office and later the Sydney Family Litigation practice. Now based at the Parramatta Registry, she has conducted her fair share of interim hearings, often working within the Evatt space as well as Contravention Final Hearings and Undefended Final Hearings. Frances is also one of the 5 National Contravention List SJRs.

Jacqui Woods, Director, Forensic, KordaMentha
Jacqueline has over 20 years of experience in forensic accounting, providing services over a wide range of matters as expert witness and as forensic consultant. Jacqueline’s forensic accounting experience includes quantification of losses in commercial disputes, breaches of contract and personal injury, and valuation of shares in, or businesses operated by, private companies, sole traders and partnerships for the purpose of commercial and family law proceedings. As independent expert, Jacqueline has given expert oral evidence in the Family Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of NSW and the Dust Diseases Tribunal of NSW. Jacqueline has carried out detailed investigations of companies’ affairs for the purpose of proposed acquisitions, quantification of fraud and assisting in negotiations to purchase private company shares or businesses. She has also provided litigation support services including assisting lawyers with the interpretation of financial aspects of legal agreements and preparing critiques of opposing expert reports.
Matthew Shepherd, Special Counsel, Ramsden Lawyers
Matthew Shepherd is a mediator, arbitrator, family dispute resolution practitioner, and accredited family law specialist. Matthew has a Masters of Dispute Resolution (Honours) from the University of Technology Sydney, where he taught Dispute Resolution Advocacy from 2014 to 2020. Matthew has studied advanced negotiation theory at the Harvard Project on Negotiation. He has sat on the NSW Society Dispute Resolution Committee. He works with clients and their lawyers to consider not only the best legal and financial outcomes, but also to consider the best dispute resolution process to achieve those outcomes. The choice of dispute resolution process has a big impact on the quality of agreements reached and how well they are implemented.

Monique has acted for clients in all areas of family law, including parenting (custody) and property matters, child support, spouse maintenance and financial agreements (including pre-nuptial agreements). Monique is known for providing clients with pragmatic, commercial advice and robust representation in both negotiating and litigating a resolution to their family and relationship law concerns. Monique has worked solely in the area of family law since 2007, including as the associate to a judge in the Federal Circuit Court. As a result, she provides clear, strategic advice and representation in matters which require litigation, and, more importantly, to assist clients to avoid litigation wherever possible. In addition to her work as a solicitor, Monique has taught Family Law at the University of Notre Dame, Australia, since 2014. Monique’s family law experience includes handling disputes where one or both parties live overseas. She also has significant experience in drafting financial agreements, including drafting mirror agreements to foreign pre-nuptial agreements. Monique also acts for third parties, including corporate entities, in family law matters. Monique became an accredited specialist in family law in 2015, and additionally has completed a Master of Laws at the University of Sydney, with a focus on family law and areas of law affecting children. Her strong academic and practical expertise are applied to ensure her clients receive efficient, effective advice, particularly in areas where novel issues arise.
