Sarah Yigit, Special Counsel, Pearson Emerson
Sarah Yigit is a Special Counsel at Pearson Emerson Family Lawyers, an Executive Councillor of the Young Lawyers branch of the Law Society of NSW and is the Chair of the NSW Young Lawyers Family Law Sub-Committee in the Law Society of NSW. Sarah was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia in March 2021 and commenced practising as a family law solicitor in New South Wales in June 2021. Prior to joining Pearson Emerson in June 2021, Sarah worked as the Associate to the Deputy Chief Justice of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1), as it is now known was, for two years, and prior to that as an Associate to two Judges of Division 2. Sarah has also worked and volunteered for over three years' in providing access to justice for victims of gender based violence. Sarah currently volunteers as a Family Law Solicitor for Marrickville Legal Centre. Sarah has a passion for promoting diversity, substantive equality and wellbeing in the profession and actively seeks to promote opportunity, community and support for Young Lawyers.


Senior Judicial Registrar Alison Osmand, Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia
Alison commenced her legal career at the Legal Aid Office in the ACT in 1991 and then moved into private practice in 1998. As a practitioner, she conducted many of her own Interim Hearings and represented a wide range of litigants including not only parents but also grandparents, extended family members and the Public Trustee and Guardian as Case Guardian. Alison joined the Court in October 2022, initially as a Sessional Judicial Registrar in the Court’s Dispute Resolution space. She became a Senior Judicial Registrar in November 2023, attached to the Sydney Registry.


Senior Judicial Registrar Frances Neilson, Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia
Prior to coming to the Court in January 2022, SJR Frances Neilson spent the bulk of her 25 year career working at NSW Legal Aid, specialising in ICL representation as well as managing the Parramatta Office and later the Sydney Family Litigation practice. Now based at the Parramatta Registry, she has conducted her fair share of interim hearings, often working within the Evatt space as well as Contravention Final Hearings and Undefended Final Hearings. Frances is also one of the 5 National Contravention List SJRs.
