The NSW Department of Justice is seeking feedback from people who have been the victim or perpetrator of a domestic or family violence incident in the past two years. This feedback will inform the Department’s review of the Domestic Violence Justice Strategy and will help it to improve the NSW justice system’s response to domestic and family violence in the coming years.

What’s this about?
The NSW Domestic Violence Justice Strategy committed all justice agencies and victims’ support services to work together to provide an effective and integrated response to domestic violence. The Strategy set out to make victims safer, hold perpetrators accountable and prevent domestic violence from reoccurring.
The Department is now reviewing the Strategy to assess how it can better meet the needs of victims and improve the NSW justice system’s response to domestic and family violence.
Feedback sought
The Department would like to hear from victims and perpetrators of domestic or family violence incidents in the past two years, about their experience with the justice system. Submit feedback online here.
Feedback is anonymous and responses will be kept strictly confidential. The online survey closes on Sunday, 28 October 2018. Submissions will help the NSW Government to develop better NSW justice system responses to domestic and family violence.
New domestic violence laws
Last month, the NSW Government announced new laws aimed at protecting and supporting victims of domestic violence. The changes will strengthen NSW’s Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) regime and make it easier to recognise and punish offenders who strangle their intimate partners.
